1. Lighting Conditions of Shelf Lights in Air Curtain Cabinets
Currently, most of the shelf lights used in Freshippo’s operating stores are T8 LED tubes. Among them, tubes driven by high-frequency drivers meet the requirements of the national power grid, but they exhibit flickering when photographed with a camera, which affects the visual experience. On the other hand, tubes driven by low-frequency drivers do not flicker and are more cost-effective, yet they fail to comply with the national power grid requirements and consume a significant amount of power from the overall grid.
Additionally, there is an issue with tube rotation, causing the light to only shine inward or downward, failing to effectively illuminate the surfaces of food items and significantly diminishing their display effectiveness.
The color rendering index (CRI) of the lighting fixtures is only around 80, which is insufficient to vividly showcase the vibrant colors of vegetables, fruits, and other food items, making it difficult to attract consumers’ attention.
High-voltage fluorescent tubes also pose certain safety hazards, as consumers can directly come into contact with them, undoubtedly introducing a certain level of risk to the shopping environment.
The lighting on the bottommost shelf shines entirely upwards and inwards, resulting in very little illumination on the food items. The second shelf features rotated T8 tubes, and a noticeable difference can be observed.
The disparity is even more pronounced in reality, as the camera on a mobile phone automatically compensates for the lighting.

- Lighting Fixture Installation Problem: Shelf lights are prone to displacement during stock replenishment, which affects the lighting effect and the overall image of the store.
- Flickering and Safety Issues: It is necessary to resolve the flickering problem of fluorescent tubes while ensuring the safety of lighting fixtures to avoid potential hazards to consumers.
- Lighting Effect Issue: Provide lighting fixtures with a longer lifespan and a higher color rendering index (CRI90) to make the product colors more vivid and authentic, thereby enhancing the display effect of goods.
Installation Structure-Related Issues
In addition to the problems with the lighting fixtures themselves, the installation structure cannot be overlooked. Therefore, we also need to cooperate to solve the following installation structure issues:
- The refrigerator manufacturer needs to cooperate in resolving the bending structure of the installation surface of the shelves. The current bending structure designed for T8 tubes is not suitable for the installation of low-voltage tubes.
- Clarify the installation surface structure of ceiling lights, including the installation methods for both internal and external ceiling lights.
- To achieve unified and optimal lighting effects, it is advisable to set up limiting strips for product placement (which have already been applied in the upright cabinets of large stores).
