On November 11, 2021, the first MUJI store together with a supermarket in Mainland China, MUJI Shanghai Hall of the Sun, opened with an area of 4,130 square meters.
The store is different from other Muji stores, it is been strengthened MUJI’s daily necessities and food products, besides it, it includes the introduction of new items such as frozen foods, noodles and oatmeal. The supermarket is in cooperation with 7 Fresh supermarket of the JD.com Group, one of China’s leading e-commerce companies. It is designed by MUJI and operated by 7 Fresh supermarket of the JD.com Group, and also introduced a supermarket with the theme of “Meal Solution Super Market”, offering a full range of food-related products such as vegetables, 肉, 魚, prepared foods, bakery and groceries.
In the sales area, the store switched from the traditional supermarket layout organized by ingredients, to a more menu-oriented layout, combining fresh produce with side dishes. As a fresh supermarket, indispensable, there are refrigerated and frozen display cabinets placed in it.
